Árkos/Arcuș
The locality rises in the valley of the Árkos stream, which originates in the Barót/Baraolt Mountains, 3 km north of Sepsiszentgyörgy/Sfântu Gheorghe.
In the hills overlooking the village are the "Tatar-era hideout of the people of Arkos, the Castle of Várhegy" and several mineral springs. A signposted tourist path connects the village with Sugásfürdő. Two of the main attractions of the village are the Unitarian castle church and the Szentkereszti castle. The neo-Baroque two-storey Szentkereszti Castle is of general interest, it was furnished for the former President of the Republic Ceausescu and now houses a county-level Cultural Centre. The castle is surrounded by an arboretum of several hectares, planted by the family of the Baron of St. Croix, and features special tree species such as olive, blood beech, tulip tree, pointed-leaved lily tree, oriental sand pine. A special feature of the garden is a pond suitable for boating. Here is the oldest preserved monument of the region, the 17th century Unitarian church with a bastion. It was last besieged during the Turkish-Tatar invasion of 1658. In its south-west corner bastion you can see the local history collection of the village. In the church tower is the heaviest bell in Covasna County, weighting 1 ton.
